Review
  • Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn offer a sequel to the best of their collaborations, The Meeting Place (1999), with The Sacred Shore, again featuring the conflict between the French and English in eighteenth-century Acadia, or Nova Scotia. Louisa Robichaud, who is French, and the young Englishwoman Catherine Harrow formed a friendship across cultural and political divides in the first book; here, almost a generation later, all flee to American shores seeking religious freedom. ((Reviewed March 1, 2000)) -- John Mort
  • Rendezvous Review: Sequel to THE MEETING PLACE. Lord Charles Harrow, eighth earl of Sutton, arrives in Halifax in search of Andrew, his brother, although they had parted with animosity. Charles is surprised that Andrew is now a dedicated minister. Charles hopes his niece will return with him to England and become the heir to his vast estate, but the girl claimed by his family is not really a relative. Andrew and his wife exchanged their baby with an Acadian infant so the Acadian baby could receive medical care. Before they could claim their own infant, the Acadians were shipped to an unknown destination. This inspiring story grabs at your heartstrings. Charles' quest for his niece also becomes one of him searching to find himself. A truly miraculous story. Jeanne Wallace
